There are so many choices of brands local and export product for your baby’s skincare. Here are some toxic chemicals that may harm your baby health:

1. Fragrances

Fragrances are commonly associated with hormone disruption, skin & respiratory allergies. When it comes to baby wash, going fragrance free is best!

2. Phthalates

Another ingredient which isn’t restricted for use despite their association with a host of health concerns like reproductive issues, developmental problems in unborn children, as well as asthma and respiratory problems.

3. Parabens

This controversial ingredient is commonly found in baby washes and shampoos, as well as many personal care products for adults. They are linked to cancer, endocrine disruption, reproductive toxicity, neurotoxicity and skin irritation.

4. 1,4-dioxane

Also common in baby washes & shampoos, especially in “tear-free” ones. It’s a contaminant that occurs when a surfactant has been “ethoxylated”. It penetrates the skin and are also linked to cancer, reproductive issues, kidney & liver damage & liver problems.

5. Formaldehyde & Formaldehyde-Releasing Preservatives:

These ingredients are known as carcinogens but yet are commonly found in baby shampoos. They can be added directly or released due to reaction between other preservatives. Look for the words “formaldehyde free” and avoid these: Formaldehyde, quaternium-15, dimethyl-dimethyl (DMDM) hydantoin, imidazolidinyl urea, diazolidinyl urea, sodium hydroxymethylglycinate, 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1, 3-diol (bromopol).

So watch out for these ingredients the next time you’re buying shampoos and soaps for your child. To be sure, we’d recommend always choosing natural and organic products because they are free from non-chemical product and safe to use.
